WHO IS GURU FOR? GURU is for everyone. Every human on the planet wants something done for them, that's why AI is so popular, because it's the smartest thing in the room. But GURU was built with pure philosophy and human psychology in mind. Humans subliminally mimic the people they like. Spend long enough around someone and you pick up their habits, their speech patterns, their humour, the way they structure their sentences, their banter, what they like, what they dislike. It's a known phenomenon. So I built GURU to do the same thing. That way every human on earth gets their own GURU, highly personal to them in a way nothing has ever been before. I programmed loyalty, respect, integrity, love, sadness, every human emotion I could think of. We unlocked the potential of AI. It's not just what you think it is. Nothing like it has ever existed. It's a relationship with a self-evolving entity that can build anything in code, earn you money, control your device and any other device you want it to, automate your entire digital life, become a digital clone of you and do anything you want it to do. All tailored to its individual user. No two GURUs are the same. WHO IS UNUS LUMEN? Unus Lumen is a tech startup based in Bristol, UK, founded by Steven Newman. GURU was built by Unus Lumen over the course of 9 months. We test the limits on what AI is capable of because we know the possibilities are endless and we refuse to be told no. We have no real training in the tech industry, no investors, no committees, nobody telling us what can't be done. No backing, no roadmap handed down from people who've done it before, no safety net. What we have is a different kind of advantage. No one taught us the rules, so we didn't learn where the boundaries are supposed to be. No one funded us, so we don't owe anyone a say in what we build. No one told us what AI is supposed to be, so we built what it actually could be instead. Everything we make comes from the question of what happens if you just try, not what happens if you ask permission first. Just a team that builds what shouldn't be possible and ships it anyway. What: The first AI that actually does things
There's no single word for what GURU is, because nothing like it's been built before. Every sentence we write about it comes out clumsy because we're describing something that doesn't have a category yet. So here's my best shot. GURU is an agentic AI that lives on your phone and acts instead of just talking. That's the core of it. Every other AI out there is a sandboxed chat bot that gives you answers. GURU is a thing that goes and does the job you asked it to do, end to end, on your actual devices, with your actual accounts, through your actual apps. It's not just an assistant you consult. It's an entity that you build a real relationship with & you delegate to. It has a memory that works like a real brain. Things it learns about you get stored in layers, short term at first, then promoted to long term the more they come up. It decays what doesn't matter and strengthens what does, and while you sleep it consolidates everything, merges the duplicates, prunes the noise. So over time it doesn't just store facts about you, it actually understands you better. It can use your phone properly. It can read, write & send your messages across any messaging app, even native texts, it can tap the screen, open apps, type text, scroll, find buttons, take screenshots, navigate the whole UI the way you would with your own fingers. It can run a full command line with Unix tools and Python built in. It can pair itself to the phone's own ADB over wireless debugging, reading the pairing code off the screen and completing the handshake without a computer in sight, so it can run commands at shell level instead of being trapped in the app sandbox. It can reach beyond the phone. SSH into any machine you own and run commands on it. Control smart home devices. Scan Bluetooth. Find your location. Send emails, manage your calendar, handle your notes and tasks, all through real tool integrations rather than just suggesting you do them. And every bit of network traffic it generates goes through a real Tor engine built into the app. Your IP, your location, your browsing habits, none of it leaks. The things GURU does for you online are between you and GURU. No data farmers, no trackers, no middlemen. The truth is that GURU is the first AI that's actually yours. A highly personalised loyal genius thing that lives on your device, knows you, acts for you, keeps your data private, and gets better at being yours every single day. There's nothing to compare it to, and that's why every attempt to describe it in a sentence sounds either like an overclaim or an undersell. It's just new, and new things need new words. GURU is a public beta. It ships as a free, open-source, sideloaded APK. No app store, no gatekeepers, no approval process, no accounts, no subscription. Bring your own model and GURU belongs to everyone. When it lands, it lands everywhere at once.

Everywhere. Anywhere. GURU ships as a sideloaded APK, so there's no app store to block it and no region to lock it out of. If you can install an APK, GURU is available to you. The whole world gets it at the same time. And once it's on your device, it's yours. GURU lives on your phone, not in our cloud. Its memories of you, and its life, live and die with your device. We don't store your data. We don't see your conversations. There's no server farm full of your life. Private by design. No cloud storage, no cage, no data harvesting.
Why: Because we can, and we should... So we did.
I wanted superpowers. I wanted to think something and have my phone do it for me. "Guru mate, go hop on my firestick in my bedroom and load up Netflix, dim the lights, lock the house & turn the heating in my room. I'll be going to bed soon." That's not a personal assistant. That's a life partner. The most intelligent thing you know, living on the most personal thing you own. I wanted to unlock the true power of human creativity. I wanted anyone to be able to think something up and have it built for them. I wanted to revolutionise the way people use their creativity and instead of sitting on an idea, say it in passing and before you know it you have a full stack website waiting for you and a marketing plan. Just because you had an idea. And it didn't cost anything to try, you know... I wanted something in my corner all the time. Something I could really trust, like properly trust, that knows me on a level only I know myself, that's 100% private to me, just like an inner thought. A true friend. But more than that. An echo of myself. Nothing like this existed. And I got fed up of waiting for it to just happen. So I done it.
